HUN’s Musical Advent – Day 11
December 11, 2010
One of the great things about music at any time of year is the joy one feels when a much disliked song is given the cover version treatment, the more irreverent the better! There are no sacred cows in music. Mariah Carey may be a cow, but she sure ain’t sacred. And so in this generous spirit I give you the tune for day 11, a cover of All I Want for Christmas is You by Bowling For Soup.
I’m sure the guys really set out to record un hommage really. Or maybe not. Either way it’s a rollicking good tune.
Tune in tomorrow when we reach halfway point! Mince pie, anyone?

Yeah, that’s way better than the original. I am not a Mariah Carey fan, can you tell?
Another great choice.
OH GOD! Mincemeat pie??? My father, God love him, HAD to have his mincemeat pie every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lord that thing reeked. I have never eaten a single bite of one. The smell being so intensely foul and all…
By the way, what IS in that pie that makes it so, umm, fragrant? I never could get close enough to look.
Cool cover version. I like the rock edge.
I love a good parody song, too. I need to find the explicit version of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. The G version goes on my answering machine for a week each Christmas season. The other version may really get me into trouble. HEH. I’m a rebel with an undefined cause.
Ever heard of a song called Holy Sh!t It’s Christmas? It’s by Red Peters and HILARIOUS. (Sorry for cursing, but it’s the title of the song) I think you’d enjoy it.
Good God, man! That’s bloody awful! Sorry. Not feeling that one. Maybe I need to listen to it a few more times.
You should swing by my blog today, link up and play along for Music Monday. Add all 13 songs, if you want.
I’ve got a great little Christmas ditty by Train this week for MM and I also reference Billy Mack in Love Actually. Funny stuff!
And if you’re bored, check out this blast from the past where I share my DH and my complete opposite taste in Christmas music.
